WA YOUNG GUNS TAKE GOLD IN DARWIN
8/06/10 - Western Australian Under 25 Team wins Western Australian Match (300/600/900/1000 yards) Aggregate and the Grand Aggregate at the 2010 National Championships held in Darwin. These matches are considered to be the two most prestigious events to win.
The National Senior and Under 25 Rifle Shooting Teams events was held at the Mickett Creek International Shooting Complex in Darwin NT last weekend and the Western Australian Under 25 team, Coached by Geoff Hayley (Chapman Valley) with Shooters Nathan Lautitsen (Meekatharra), Tom Anderson (Wurgabup),Chloe Angelatos (City of Subiaco), Scott Newby (Wurgabup), William Treasure (Yarloop) and Michael Tuckey (City of Subiaco) finished 17 points ahead after two days of competition over distances from 300mts to 1000mtrs.
The opposition teams from Queensland (2nd), New South Wales (3rd) and South Australia were “Out Gunned” by the WA team who took medals at all individual ranges and aggregates (6 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze). This is the first time a WA team has won this prestigious event.
Senior, Under 25 and Veterans teams from all Australian States and Territories have been competing throughout the week at this magnificent shooting complex just 20 mins South of Darwin. The two week gathering of the best Target Shooters in Australia climaxes with a 5 day individual competition the “Northern Territory Queens Prize Meeting” finishing on Monday 14th June. WA will be looking to see a number of its team representatives (especially these Under 25 "Hot Shots") on and/or near the top of the leader board at the end.
